Keberadaan seseorang di tempat yang baru setidaknya akan mengalami pengalaman-pengalaman yang baru juga, hal inilah yang terjadi pada mahasiswa baru terutama yang datang dari luar daerah dan belum memahami bahasa dan budaya tempat yang baru. Seperti salah satu contoh dimana ketika memasuki dunia kos-kosan masih ada kendala yang harus diahapi para calon mahasiswa baru untuk pertama kalinya yang lebih dikenal dengan istilah culture shock (gegar budaya). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana gambaran culture shock dan bentuk culture shock itu sendiri terhadap mahasiswa luar Madura dengan konsep komunikasi antar budaya dan juga resolusi terhadap mahasiswa luar Madura. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis fenomena culture shock yang dialami oleh mahasiswa-mahasiswi pendatang/migran UTM angkatan 2013 hingga 2015 dan pengaruh fenomena tersebut terhadap motivasi bersosial dengan masyarakat sekitar mereka. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan dari permasalahan culture shock akibat perbedaan dua budaya yang berbeda mengakibatkan kesulitannya mahasiswa pendatang untuk beradaptasi ketika awal menetap di lingkungan yang baru dari tempat asalnya. The existence of someone in a new place at least will experience new experiences as well, this is what happens to new students, especially those who come from outside the region and not yet understand the language and culture of the new place. As one example where when entering the kos-kosan there are still obstacles that must be addressed by new prospective students for the first time is better known as the culture shock This study aims to find out how the image of culture shock and the form of culture shock itself against college students foreign Madura with the concept of intercultural communication and also the resolution of college students foreign Madura. The purpose of this study is to know and analyze the phenomenon of culture shock experienced by UTM migrant college students force 2013 to 2015 and the influence of these phenomena on social motivation with the surrounding communities. The results of this study indicate the problems of culture shock due to differences in two different cultures resulting in the difficulties of immigrant students to adapt when early settled in a new environment from where it came from.
