This study focuses on parentese speech in non-prosodic aspects that are found in Nanny 911 reality show of Delaney family episode. This study aims to explain the characteristics of parentese which are taken from this episode. It also aims to explain the functions of parentese. This study is conducted by applying a qualitative research design since the data are in the form of words. The data of this study are the utterances contain parentese uttered by the characters in Delaney family episode of Nanny 911. The data are collected by using content analysis method. In analyzing the data, the writer uses interactive data analysis. This study uses two theories which are proposed by Steinberg, et al (2001) and Fernald (1989) to analyze the data. In the findings, the writer found 22 data. The writer found all four characteristics of parentese which based on non-prosodic aspects, 6 data which are included into immediacy and concreteness, 7 data are included into grammaticality of input, 4 data are included into short utterances and simple structure and 5 data are included into simple and short vocabulary. The writer also found all three functions of parentese. Those are to get attention (5 data), affective/social (15 data), and facilitate language acquisition (2 data).
