Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model problem based learning terhadap pemahaman konsep dan self confidence siswa pada materi pemanasan global siswa keas VII SMP Negeri 4 Bangkalan tahun ajaran 2017/2018. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan menggunakan desain penelitian Quasi Experimental. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 4 Bangkalan. Sampel yang digunakan adalah kelas VII D sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII C sebagai kelas kontrol. Teknik analisis data pengujian hipotesis kemampuan berkomunikasi dan hasil belajar siswa menggunakan Uji-t sampel bebas dengan program SPSS versi 18.00. Hasil pengujian hipotesis pemahaman konsep siswa diperoleh nilai -thitung ≤ ttabel ≤ thitung (-29,842 ≤ 1,998 ≤ 29,842) maka Ho ditolak dan H1 diterima. Hasil pengujian hipotesis self confidence siswa diperoleh nilai -thitung ≤ ttabel ≤ thitung (-2,225 ≤ 1,998 ≤ 2,225) maka Ho ditolak dan H1 diterima. Berdasarkan hasil uji hipotesis tersebut maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa model problem based learning berpengaruh terhadap pemahaman konsep dan self confidence siswa. Hasil analisis data menujukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata posttest pemahaman konsep sebesar 79,38 dengan kriteria baik. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata posttest self confidence sebesar 87,06 dengan kriteria sangat tinggi. Persentase respon siswa terhadap model problem based learnig sebesar 95,46% dengan kategori baik. Hasil rata-rata keterlaksanaan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model problem based learning yaitu 76,36% dengan kategori sangat baik.

The purpose of this study therefore, was to know the effect model problem based learning to conceptual understanding and student self confidence at material of global warming student at VII class Junior High School Negeri 4 Bangkalan study yard 2017/2018. This research an exsperimental study with use the reseach design Quasi Exsperimental. The population this research is all of the student VII class D as exsperimental class and VII class C as control class. The data analysis technique of hypothesis testing for conceptual understanding and student self confidence use Independent Samples T-Test with program SPSS versi 18.00. The result of hypothesis testing for conceptual understanding student values obtained -tcount ≤ ttable ≤ tcount (-26,549 ≤ 1,998 ≤ 26,549) then Ho rejected and H1 accepted. The result of hypothesis testing for student self confidence values obtained -tcount ≤ ttable ≤ tcount (-2,225 ≤ 1,998 ≤ 2,225) then Ho rejected and H1 accepted. Based on the result of the hypothesis test it can be concluded the problem based learning significant effect on the conceptual understanding and student self confidence. The result of data analysis indicated that the average value of conceptual understanding in posttest is 79,38 with high category. The result of data analysis indicated that the average value or self confidence in posttest is 87,06 with very high category. The result of student response using problem based learning model is 95,46% with good category. The average learning achievement of problem based learning model is 76,36% with very good category.
