Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui bentuk-bentuk tindakan sosial dalam novel Sirkus Pohon karya Andrea Hirata dengan tinjauan sosiologi sastra Max Weber. Sosiologi sastra adalah ilmu yang mempelajari tentang proses kehidupan masyarakat. Sosiologi dan sastra memiliki objek kajian yang sama yaitu masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Pokok pembahasan dalam penelitian adalah tindakan sosial tokoh berupa tindakan rasionalitas instrumental, tindakan yang berorientasi pada nilai, tindakan afektif atau emosi, dan tindakan tradisional. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik pustaka, simak, dan catat. Teknik keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi teori. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalahtindakan rasionalitas instrumental tokoh berupa tindakan yang mempertimbangkan secara rasional dalam memilih cara atau alat yang digunakan oleh tokoh dalam mencapai tujuan tertentu. Tindakan yang berorientasi pada nilai, yaitu nilai religius, nilai sosial dan nilai politik yang dilakukan oleh tokoh. Tindakan afektif atau emosi yaitu, perasaan cinta, sedih, marah, dan gembira. Tindakan tradisional yaitu, tradisi sirkus keliling yang dilakukan oleh tokoh Tara. Kata kunci: Tindakan Sosial, Tokoh, Novel, dan Sosiologi Sastra

This research was conducted to find out the various forms of social action in the novel's Sirkus Pohon the work of Andrea Hirata with Max Weber's sociology of literature review. Sociology of literature is the study of the process of people's lives. Sociology and literature have the same object of study namely society. This research uses qualitative descriptive study. The subject matter of discussion in research is a social action figure in the form of instrumental rationality of action, action-oriented values, affective or emotion action, and traditional action. The technique of data collection is performed with the Engineering Library, refer to, and note. Validity of the data using the triangulation technique theory. The results of this research are the instrumental rationality of action figure in the form of the action considering rationally in choosing means or tools used by a character in achieving specific objectives. Action-oriented value, namely religious values, social values and political values performed by the character. Acts of affective or emotion that is, feelings of love, sad, angry, and excited.
