Abstract Fadilah, Siti. (16.05.1.1.10037). A woman objectification in Sandra Brown’s Sting: Patriarchy Study. Thesis. English Study Program of the Faculty of Social and Cultural Sciences, University of Trunojoyo Madura. Advisor Imron Wakhid Harits, S.S, M.Pd., Ph.D. Patriarchy in literature is a media sharing to discuss the domination of men in literature. Patriarchy in literature is very interesting to analyze. People were able to discover that Patriarchal system influences the process making of literature. The aims of this study are to discover about Patriarchal system reflected and identify woman objectification occur in the novel entitled Sting by Sandra Brown. The discussion focuses on the utterances and action of the main character also the narrations of the author, which show the woman objectification happens to the woman character in the novel. The writer applies theory from Katte Milett as the main theory to analyze woman objectification in the novel. This theory provides three main points of woman objectification, those are, women subordination, women oppression and sexual objects. The theory emphasizes on the woman character that being the subordinate of men, treated differently, oppressed by the men characters and converted woman into object of sexual fantasy by the men characters. The subject of this study is the woman main character, Jordie Banett. The data analysis of this study used qualitative method by Creswell. The data were collected by the writer herself. In analyzing the data, the writer explored every social and human problem to understand the existing phenomena about woman objectification using the question and analyzing data from particulars to general and report that as flexible writing structure. The findings of the study revealed that the woman character named Jordie is being subordinate to the men characters. The men characters in the in the novel Sting are violent to the woman character and under men’s characters, Jordie treated differently such as converted into sexual fantasy. Jordie also being dehumanizing and treated as a thing that can be exchanged with money. Keywords : Patriarchy, women objectification, Sting
