ABSTRACTrnHasanah, Nur. (2021). Racism Reflected in On The Come Up by Thomas Angie: Racism Study. English Study Program of Faculty of Social and Cultural Science, University of Trunojoyo Madura. Advisor: Mrs. Erika Citra Sari Hartanto, S.S., M.Hum.rnThis study aims to identify and clarify the tenets of racism reflected in On The Come Up by Angie Thomas. Those tenets are ordinariness, material determinism, social construction, differential racialization, intersectionality and the voice of color. The primary theory of racism in this study is Critical Race Theory by Delgado and Stefancic. This theory is used to analyze the source of data and to find data categorized those six tenets of racism based on Critical Race Theory in On The Come Up novel.rnThis study used a qualitative methodology the research type of the study. The data of this study is the narrations and the utterances in the novel. The writer analyzed the data by applying Miles, Huberman & Saldana’s data analysis which contains three important steps, they are; data condensation, data display, and verification conclusion.rnThe result of this study found eight data related to the six tenets of racism based on Critical Race Theory by Delgado and Stefancic. For more details, ordinariness and material determinism have two data, and one data each for the tenets of social construction, differential racialization, intersectionality and voice of color. The data shows the racism causes discrimination and oppression toward the black people in the novel.rnrnKeywords: tenets of racism, racism, discrimination and black people
