Cerita rakyat objek penelitian ini adalah Legenda Petilasan Sumur Nganten Di Desa Sraturejo Kecamatan Baureno Kabupaten Bojonegoro. Penelusuran terkait legenda petilasan sumur Nganten diarahkan pada pengkajian fungsi sastra lisan dan nilai budaya legenda. Penggunaan kajian fungsi William R. Bascom dimaksudkan untuk mengungkap nilai-nilai fungsi sastra lisan legenda. Penggunaan kajian nilai budaya dimaksudkan untuk mengungkap nilai-nilai budaya yang ada dalam legenda. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data informasi seputar legenda petilasan sumur Nganten dari tuturan lisan yang meliputi observasi, perekaman, pengamatan dan pencatatan, wawancara serta transkripsi. Hasil penelitian ini diperoleh pertama, asal usul legenda petilasan sumur Nganten. Kedua, fungsi legenda petilasan sumur Nganten, fungsi yang pertama dijadikan sebagai bentuk hiburan. Fungsi legenda sebagai sebuah bentuk alat pengesah pranata dan lembaga kebudayaan. Fungsi legenda petilasan sumur Nganten sebagai alat pendidik anak-anak. Fungsi legenda sebagai alat pemaksa dan pengawas agar norma masyarakat akan selalu dipatuhi oleh anggota kolektifnya. Ketiga, nilai budaya legenda petilasan sumur Nganten meliputi nilai budaya hubungan manusia dengan Tuhan, hubungan manusia dengan alam, hubungan manusia dengan masyarakat, hubungan manusia dengan orang lain, dan hubungan manusia dengan diri sendiri.
