Konflik sosial merupakan pertentangan antar anggota masyarakat yang bersifat menyeluruh dalam kehidupan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif, dengan menggunakan teori sosiologi sastra. Kajian sosiologi sastra Lewis A. Coser digunakan untuk meneliti konflik sosial dalam novel Perempuan Bersampur Merah Karya Intan Andaru. Metode pengumpulan data ditempuh menggunakan teknik pustaka, teknik baca, dan teknik catat. Selanjutnya data dianalisis menggunakan konflik sosial Lewis A. Coser yang menjelaskan bagaimana bentuk konflik sosial dan penyebab terjadinya konflik dalam novel Perempuan Bersampur Merah. Adapun keabsahan data penelitian ini menggunakan triangulasi teori. Hasil dari penelitian ini merupakan bentuk konflik sosial realistis dan nonrealistis. Konflik sosial realistis meliputi hosting of feeling dan hosting of behavior. Hostile Behavior merupakan bentuk konflik realistis yang terjadi karena permusuhan dengan orang lain lebih dari satu orang. Sedangkan, hostile of feeling berhubungan dengan perasaan diri sendiri. Hasil penelitian ditemukan sebanyak 45 data konflik sosial realistis yang terbagi menjadi 30 data hostile behavior dan 15 hostile of feeling yang berasal dari kekecewan individu pada kelompok yang bersumber pada faktor ekonomi maupun kekuasaan. Sementara itu, terdapat 7 data konflik sosial nonrealistik pada novel ini berkaitan dengan pertentangan kebudayaan, tradisi, dan agama. Penyebab konflik dalam novel ini bersumber pada tradisi masyarakat Banyuwangi

Social conflict is a conflict between members of society that is comprehensive in life. This type of research is qualitative research, using the theory of literary sociology. Lewis A. Coser's literary sociological studies were used to examine social conflicts in the novel The Red-Shirted Woman by Intan Andaru. The data collection method is taken using library techniques, reading techniques, and note-taking techniques. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using Lewis A. Coser's social conflict which explained how the form of social conflict and the causes of conflict occurred in the novel Women in Red. The validity of the data of this study uses a triangulation of theories. The results of this study are a form of realistic and nonrealistic social conflict. Realistic social conflicts include hosting of feeling and hosting of behavior. Hostile Behavior is a form of realistic conflict that occurs due to hostility with other people of more than one person. Meanwhile, hostile of feeling is related to one's own feelings. The results of the study found many 45 realistic social conflict data which were divided into 30 hostile behavior data and 15 hostile of feelings derived from individual frustrations in groups sourced from economic and power factors. Meanwhile, there are 7 nonrealistic social conflict data in this novel related to conflicts in culture, tradition, and religion. The cause of the conflict in this novel comes from the traditions of the Banyuwangi people.
