Penelitian inirnbertujuan untuk mencari data yang terdiri dari lima kode naratif: Kode Hermeneutik,rnKode Proarietik, Kode Konotatif, Kode Budaya, dan Kode Simbolik karya RolandrnBarthes.rnPenelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data yang digunakanrnberupa narasi dalam cerpen An Independent Organ. Dengan menggunakan metodernini, penulis mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan simbol-simbol dalam kumpulan datarnyang terdapat dalam An Independent Organ karya Haruki Murakami..rnPenelitian ini menunjukkan temuan mengenai lima kode naratif: kodernhermeneutik, kode proariotik, kode konotatif, kode budaya, dan kode simbolik yangrndikemukakan oleh Barthes. Dalam temuan tersebut terkumpul 94 data yaiturnhermeneutika 31 data, proariotik 20 data, semantik 13 data, budaya 20 data danrnsimbolik 10 data. Hasil penelitiannya seperti penjelasan dibawah ini. Data kodernhermeneutik tersebut dapat dirumuskan dan ditemukan makna pokoknya sepertirnasas, jati diri, pribadi, kondisi, dan lain-lain. Diskusi proarietik, data dianalisisrnmenjadi rangkaian tindakan yang disajikan dalam rumusan proarietik. Dalam kodernkonotatif, semua data menggambarkan watak atau ciri-ciri suatu tokoh yangrndatanya dianalisis secara singkat dan padat. Fenomena budaya terdapat dalam ceritarndan data-data yang menjadi inti pembahasan, antara lain anggapan, norma,rnkebiasaan, pengetahuan, kebijaksanaan, dan lain-lain. Dalam diskusi simbolik,rnmakna dari seluruh data dapat ditemukan dengan menggunakan sistem antitesis,rnwalaupun ada beberapa data yang tidak dapat ditemukan pada antitesis AB, penulisrnmerasa cukup dapat memahami dengan adanya antitesis A atau antitesis B padarnsetiap data. Lalu, kelima kode naratif tersebut mengarah pada makna tersembunyirnbahwa kehidupan Dr. Tokai hancur karena pengaruh seorang wanita.

The data were in the form ofrnnarration in the short story of An Independent Organ by using this method, thernwriter describes and explains the symbol in the collected data found in AnrnIndependent Organ by Haruki Murakami.rnThis study shows findings about the five narrative codes: hermeneutic code,rnproariotic code, connotative code, cultural code, and symbolic code proposed byrnBarthes. The finding collected 94 data that consisted of hermeneutic 31 data,rnproariotic 20 data, semantic 13 data, cultural 20 data, and symbolic 10 data. Thernresult of the study is the explanation below. Those hermeneutic code data canrnbe formulated and discover the main meanings such principles, identity, personalrnidentity, conditions, and others. Proarietic discussion, the data is analyzed into arnseries of actions presented in a proarietic formulation. In the connotative code, allrndata describes the character characteristics of a character and the data is analyzedrnbriefly and concisely. The cultural phenomena are found in the story and data canrnbe found at the core of the discussion, including presumptions, norms, habits,rnknowledge, wisdom, and others. In symbolic discussion, the meaning of all the datarncan be found by using the antithesis system, even though some of the data cannotrnbe found in antithesis AB, the writer feels that he can understand enough by thernpresence of antithesis A antithesis B in each data. Then, those five narrative codesrngo to the hidden meaning that the life of Dr. Tokai was destroyed because of therninfluence of a woman.
