[ Anotasi Abstrak ]

Deskripsi Lain

The manufacturing process was created due to the development of technology in the industrial sector which continues to grow rapidly. One of them is welding, welding is a metal joining technique by melting half of the base metal and also the filler metal which can involve pressure not, and can be done with without the use of additional metal with the final result in the form of a continuous welded joint. The purpose of this study was to obtain the angular distortion value and tensile strength of the SS400 plate material weld joint. The welding technique used in this study is Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW). The parameters used in this study are current strength (A), weld shape and plate thickness (mm). The results of the data obtained will be analyzed using the Taguchi and Gray Relational Analysis (GRA) methods. The results of the study that have been obtained show the highest angular distortion of 12.09°, with a combination of current strength of 60 A, V-shaped weld and plate thickness of 10 mm. Then the lowest angular distortion was obtained from a combination of 60A current strength, X-shaped butt and 8 mm plate thickness with a distortion value obtained of 1.21°. The highest tensile strength was produced by a combination of 80 A current strength, V-shaped butt and 10 mm plate thickness of 499.96 MPa. While the lowest tensile strength value was produced by a combination of 60 A current strength, V-shaped butt and 8 mm plate thickness of 325.39 MPa. The results of the analysis using the Taguchi method with the help of Minitab 21 software explained that there were no significant factors on angular distortion. Meanwhile, the factor that had a significant influence on tensile strength was obtained by the plate thickness factor. Based on the results of the study, the optimal combination of factors and levels for angular distortion was obtained, namely level 2 current strength (80 A), level 2 butt shape (X) and level 1 plate thickness (8 mm). Furthermore, the optimal combination of factors for tensile strength was level 2 current strength (80 A), level 1 butt shape (V) and level 2 plate thickness (10 mm).rnrnKeywords: welding, SMAW, angular distortion, tensile strength, Taguchi method, GRA
