[ Anotasi Abstrak ]

Deskripsi Lain

Melon (Cucumis melo L.) is a high-value horticultural commodity, yet its national production has declined due to land degradation and excessive use of inorganic fertilizers. This study aimed to examine the effects of spent mushroom baglog compost, seaweed biostimulant, and their interaction on the growth and yield of melon plants. The experiment was conducted from January to April 2026 at the RA Bakti Farm, Telang Village, and the Laboratory of the Agroecotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Trunodjoyo University of Madura. A Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors was used: the dose of baglog compost, B0 (0 tons/ha 0 g/polybag), B1 (10 tons/ha 55.9 g/polybag), and B2 (20 tons/ha 111.9 g/polybag), and the concentration of seaweed biostimulant, G0 (0% 0 g/L), G1 (0.2% 2 g/L), and G2 (0.4% 4 g/L), each replicated three times. The observed parameters were plant length, number of leaves, root fresh weight, fruit weight, fruit circumference, fruit flesh thickness, and vitamin C content. Data were analyzed using ANOVA at the 5% level, followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% level when significant effects were found. The results showed that spent mushroom baglog compost had a significant effect on plant length at 2–6 weeks after planting (WAP) and on the number of leaves at 25 WAP, with the 20 tons/ha dose (B2) tending to produce the highest growth. However, it had no significant effect on yield parameters (fruit weight, fruit circumference, root fresh weight, fruit flesh thickness, and vitamin C content). Seaweed biostimulant had no significant effect on growth parameters but significantly affected fruit flesh thickness, with the control (G0) giving better results than G1 and G2, while no significant effect on the other yield parameters. These results indicate that spent mushroom baglog compost is effective in promoting vegetative growth, whereas seaweed biostimulant at the tested concentrations has not been able to improve parameters such melon fruit flesh thickness.
