Penelitian ini membahas tentang prediksi keberhasilan mahasiswa fakultas teknik Program studi Teknik Industri, dimana dalam penelitian ini terdapat 8 peubah penjelas dan peubah respon IPK dan masa studi. Dalam penelitian ini untuk menentukan hubungan IPK terhadap variabel independen menggunakan regresi logistik. Data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah data mahasiswa program studi Teknik industri angkatan 2004 sampai 2007. Respon yang akan diamati yaitu Y1= Indeks Prestasi Komulatif (IPK) S1 pada semester akhir dan Y2= Masa Studi. Variabel peubah yang diamati adalah jenis kelamin, asal daerah, status SMA/non SMA, jeni SMA/non SMA, pendidikan Orang tua, pekerjaan orang tua, gaji orang tua, dan status penerimaan. Regresi logistik IPK digunakan untuk memprediksi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi keberhasilan mahasiswa pada indeks predikat komulatif dengan menggunakan metode backward elimination. Dari hasil metode backward elimination diperoleh jenis kelamin dan pendidikan orang tua signifikan pada α 5% mempengaruhi keberhasilan mahasiswa pada IPK. Variabel-variabel yang mempengaruhi keberhasilan masa studi program studi teknik industri yaitu Jenis kelamin (X1),status SMA (X3).

GPA used logistic regression to predict the factors that influence student success in cumulative citation index using backward elimination method. From the results of the backward elimination method acquired gender and parental education significant at α 5% influence on the success of the students GPA.
