Sebagai salah satu Universitas negeri yang baru berdiri, Universitas Trunojoyo Madura (UTM) terus melakukan perbaikan baik dari segi pembangunan maupun dari segi akademik guna meningkatkan input pendidikan. Seperti yang dilakukan oleh Fakultas Teknik yang berusaha meningkatkan nilai akreditasinya. Salah satu standar akreditasi program studi sarjana yaitu mahasiswa dan lulusan (Ban-PT,2008). Berdasarkan standar akreditasi tersebut setiap program studi dituntut untuk berperan aktif dalam proses penyeleksian/perekrutan mahasiswa baru sehingga nantinya diperoleh mahasiswa yang bermutu. Beberapa indikator mutu mahasiswa adalah nilai indeks prestrasi komulatif (IPK) dan masa studi. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini dilakukan untuk memberi masukan bagi setiap program studi dalam melakukan proses perekrutan mahasiswa baru. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memprediksi keberhasilan mahasiswa dengan melalui (Indeks Prestasi Komulatif) IPK dan masa studi dengan menggunakan metode Classification and Regresion Tree (CART). Variabel peubah penjelas yang digunakan pada penelitian ini ada 8 yaitu jenis kelamin, asal daerah, usia, status penerimaan, pendidikan orang tua, pekerjaan orang tua, status SMA, dan gaji orang tua. Sedangkan variabel peubah respon yaitu IPK dan masa studi. Berdasarkan hasil analisa, variabel yang paling berpengaruh terhadap peubah respon IPK jurusan teknik industri dan informatika masing-masing yaitu asal daerah (X2) dan gaji orang tua (X8). Sedangkan variabel yang memiliki pengaruh tinggi terhadap peubah respon masa studi jurusan teknik industri yaitu pekerjaan orang tua (X6) dan jurusan teknik informatika yaitu pekerjaan orang tua (X6). As a new university, Trunojoyo University of Madura (UTM) keeps on improving constructions and educations to civilize the education quality. Such technic faculty, which is try to enhance the accreditation. One of undergraduate education accreditation standart is students and graduates quality (Ban-PT, 2008). Based on that accreditaion standart each major must actively participate in selection/recruitment process of new students that eventually obtain high fidelity students. some of Student fidelity indicator are IPK and period of study. Both factor expected students to get high value of IPK and also have short period of study. The purpose of this research is to predict student successes by IPK and the period of study taken using (Classification and Regression Tree) CART method. There are 8 prediction variable using in this research is gender, town, age, acceptance status, education of parent, occupation of parent, senior high school status, and salary of parent. Whereas respons variable is IPK and period of study taken. From analysis result shows that the high influence variable to IPK response variable on industrial enggineering and infomation technology major is town(X2) and Occupation of parent(X6). Otherwise, the high influence variable to period of study taken response variable on industrial enggineering and information technology major is parent’s occupation (X6).
