Perkembangan teknologi komunikasi dan informasi telah mempengaruhi masyarakat khususnya dalam bidang pendidikan. Salah satunya dengan adanya e-learning tes adaptif dimana komputer diatur untuk menyeleksi dan memberikan soal, selanjutnya komputer menskor jawaban siswa. Kemudian komputer memilih soal baru untuk diberikan lagi kepada siswa. Computerized Adaptive Test (CAT) pada Tugas Akhir ini menggunakan algoritma Item Response Theory (IRT) yang diimplementasikan dalam pembuatan aplikasi ini dengan dua parameter. Parameter tersebut adalah parameter tingkat kesulitan soal (difficulty), dan parameter tingkat kemampuan siswa dan Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) digunakan untuk mengestimasi ability siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan 180 soal diambil dari bab 1 sampai bab 9. Mata pelajaran yang diterapkan adalah bahasa indonesia kelas VII SMP, jumlah siswa yang berpartisipasi 295 dari 10 kelas (7 kelas (207 siswa) menggunakan tes adaptif dan 3 kelas (88 siswa) menggunakan tes konvensional). Nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh dari hasil ujicoba dengan menggunakan tes adaptif nilai rata-rata tes1=52,80193, tes2=76,42512 dan tes3=86,18357 sedangkan nilai rata-rata dengan tes konvensional nilai rata-rata tes1=55,34091, tes2=62,84091 dan tes3=72,15909. Hasil pre tes dan pos tes sebelum dan setelah menggunakan tes adaptif maupun tes konvensional nilai rata-rata pre tes sebelum menggunakan tes adaptif 71,13 setelah menggunakan tes adaptif nilai rata-rata pos tes 74,67 sehingga mengalami peningkatan sebesar 4,97%. Sedangkan hasil pre tes sebelum menggunakan tes konvensional 70,07 setelah menggunakan tes konvensional nilai rata-rata pos tes siswa mengalami peningkatan sebesar 3,04%.

The average value obtained from the test results by using an adaptive test average value tes1 = 52.80193, and tes3 tes2 = 76.42512 = 86.18357 while the average value of the conventional test average value tes1 = 55, 34 091, and tes3 tes2 = 62.84091 = 72.15909. The results of pre test and post test before and after using the adaptive test and a conventional test average pre-test before using the adaptive test using the test adaptive 71.13 after the average value test heading 74.67 so an increase of 4.97%. While the results of pre-test before using conventional tests 70.07 after using a conventional test average value of post test students has increased by 3.04%.
