Abstract:Literary work often contains myth. The author uses myth to add more creativity, for example, the using of myth about witch in the novel Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by JK Rowling. The creativity and mysterious side make this study interest to analyze about myth in the novel This study is going to analyze about myth and character which exist in the novel by using theory of myth and archetypal character from Northrop Frye. Since this study focus to analyze myth in the novel, there are two statement research problems in order to find out structure, phase, and characters in the novel. This study uses qualitative research in order to analyze the novel. In line with qualitative research, the data are collected by reading and underlining the utterances. Then, the data will be analyzed by exceeding four processes those are data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion. After exceeding long process, the structure of Tragedy that is Pathos or catastrophe occurs as the structure of this novel. The phases which is belongs to Tragedy are Complete Innoncence, Youthful Innoncence of Inexperience, Completion of an Ideal, Individual’s Fault, Natural Law, World of Shock and Horror. Another result is the stock type characters of this novel are Alazon and Eiron. Characters in Alazon are Professor Dumbledore as Withdrawing Figure, Soothsayer is Professor Trelawney, and Villains are Snape and Malfoy. In Eiron are Harry as the Hero, Suppliants are Lupin and Hagrid, Messenger is Ron, and Hermione as the plain dealer.
