Carok merupakan salah satu bentuk pertahanan diri ketika sedang dilecehkan oleh orang lain. Penyebab dari carok ini karena permasalahan harta, tahta dan wanita. Ketika seseorang melakukan carok banyak terdapat akibat negatif yang ditimbulkan dari pihak pelaku dan korban. Salah satunya ketakutan akan balasan yang dilakukan oleh pihak korban sehingga membuat istri dari pelaku merasa ketakutan. Rasa ketakutan tersebut menyebabkan istri membuat rencana-rencana untuk mengatasi ketakutan dan menyelesaikan masalah yang dihadapi. Coping strategy adalah upaya individu untuk mengatasi situasi ancaman yang dirasakan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana gambaran coping strategy istri pelaku carok di Desa Lepelle, Kecamatan Robatal, Kabupaten Sampang. Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan wawancara semi terstruktur. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa istri pelaku carok memiliki cara dalam coping srategy sesuai dengan beberapa aspek dengan mengubah pola pikir, menganggap bahwa suaminya tidak bersalah. Istri pelaku carok melakukan perencanaan dengan mendatangi kiai untuk meminta jimat, meminta bantuan keluarga dekat, membatasi diri dengan mengontrol dirinya agar tidak menimbulkan kondisi yang membahayakan, mendapatkan banyak informasi, nasehat, bantuan dari keluarga untuk menyelesaikan masalah. Solusi yang dilakukan mendekatkan diri kepada tuhan, agar dapat menghadapi masalah. Kata Kunci: Coping Strategy, Istri, Carok DaftarPustaka: 20 (1989-2013)

Carok is a kind of self defense when we are insulted by other people. The things that can cause carok are treasure, throne, and women problems. When someone is doing carok, there are many negative impacts for both of the perpetrator and victim sides. One of them is fear of revenge which will be done by the victim side this making the wife of the perpetrator feel fear. The fear caused his wife to make plans. Due to that fear, the perpetrator’s wife will try to find a way to cope her fear and solve the problem. Coping strategy is an effort from individu to cope the threatening situation which is faced. The aim of this study is to know how the portrait of coping strategy of carok perpetrator’s wife at Lepelle Village, Robatal Subdistrict, Sampang Regency. This study uses descriptive qualitative approach. The method of collecting data in this study is semistructured interview. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the carok perpetrator’s wife finds a way in coping strategy in line with several aspects that is by changing her mindset and considering that her husband is not wrong. The carok perpetrator’s wife makes some planning, such as asks a talisman to the kiai, asks some help to the relatives, restricts herself by controlling her own self to do not make any dangerous situation, gets many information, suggestions, and help from the relatives to solve the problem.
