Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui locus of control para pengrajin perhiasan tradisional dalam menghadapi persaingan dengan perhiasan produksi pabrik di pasar. Locus of control merupakan salah satu faktor yang sangat menentukan perilaku individu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dalam bentuk deskriptif. Teknik pengambilan subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah purposive sampling dan wawancara sebagai metode pengumpulan data. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah pengrajin perhiasan tradisional yang sudah bekerja sebagai pengrajin selama kurang lebih 40 tahun. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengrajin perhiasan tradisional tetap mempertahankan profesinya dan mampu bersaing, karena mereka yakin dengan kemampuan mereka dalam membuat perhiasan. Selain itu mereka masih memiliki minat yang tinggi untuk memajukan usaha juga untuk bersaing, karena itu mereka melakukan banyak upaya untuk mendapatkan kembali minat pelanggan terhadap perhiasan hasil buatan pengrajin perhiasan tradisional dari pada perhiasan produk pabrik. Persaingan dengan perhiasan produk pabrik diyakini sebagai ketentuan nasib, meski begitu masih mengalirnya pesanan selama ini mereka anggap sebagai sebuah keberuntungan. Meski persaingan menurunkan pamor dan penghasilan sebagai pengrajin perhiasan tradisional, mereka tetap merasa bahwa profesi mereka sangat menjanjikan. Di samping itu juga masih banyak wiraniaga (sales) yang berperan sebagai perantara pengrajin perhiasan tradisional dengan pasar dan karyawan yang membantu mereka bekerja. Faktor-faktor tersebut menunjukan bahwa pengrajin perhiasan tradisional Desa Sendangagung Kecamatan Paciran Kabupaten Lamongan memiliki locus of control internal dan eksternal. This study aims to determine the locus of control of the traditional jeweler in facing competition with a factory production jewelry in the market. Locus of control is one of the factors which determines an individual's behavior. This study uses qualitative research methods in descriptive form. The technique of selecting the subjects in this study is purposive sampling and using interviews as technique of collecting data. The subjects in this study are the traditional jeweler who had been working as a jeweler for more than 40 years. The result of this study indicates that the traditional jeweler retaining his profession and be able to compete, because they are confident in their ability to make jewelry. In addition they still have a high interest to promote the business and to compete, because they do a lot of effort to regain the interest of customers to the traditional jewelry rather than the jewelry which produced by the factory. The competition with jewelry which produced by factory is believed by the traditional jeweler as the fate of the provision, although they still receive order of making jewelry, they consider it to be a fortune. Although the competition decreases the prestige and earnings as traditional jewelry jeweler, they still feel that their profession is very promising. In addition, too many salesman, which acts as an intermediary for traditional jeweler with markets and employees who helps them keep working. These factors indicate that the traditional jeweler of Sendangagung village, sub-district of Paciran, district of Lamongan has the internal and external locus of control.
