Kabupaten Sumenep sebagai kabupaten kepulauan, diantaranya adalah Pulau Poteran, memiliki beberapa potensi kelautan yang dapat dikembangkan, diantaranyaadalah ekosistem terumbu karang dan ekosistem padang lamun.Padang lamun sebagai suatu habitat di daerah pesisir pantai akan terus mengalami perubahan oleh berbagai sebab, sehingga penelitian struktur komunitas ikan yang merupakan indikator stabilitas ekosistem harus terus dilakukan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis ikan di ekosistem lamun, struktur komunitas ikan dan persen penutupan lamun di Pulau Poteran. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengambilan sampel ikan menggunakan alat tangkap jaring insang (gill net) dengan spesifikasi panjang 50 m, lebar 1 mdengan mata jaring 1,5 cm serta penutupan lamun dengan metode transek kuadran 1m x 1m dengan petak contoh didalamnya berukuran 20 cm x 20 cm, sampel lamun juga diambil agar mengetahui jenis lamun apa yang ada di daerah penelitian.Hasil identifikasi menunjukkan jenis spesies ikan yang diperoleh terdiri dari 8 spesies dan jenis lamun Enhalus acoroidesadalah jenis lamunyang paling banyak ditemukan saat penelitian. Hasil analisis struktur komunitas ikan di ekosistem lamun berada pada kondisi keanekaragaman sedang dengan keseragaman tinggi serta dominansi yang rendah. Prosentase penutupan lamun dari ketiga stasiun pengamatan termasuk dalam kategori kelas 3 yaitu berkisar antara 12,5–25% dengan luas area penutupannya adalah 1/8–1/4.

Sumenep Regency is a regency with its islands, one of them is Poteran Island, it has some potential of marine which can be developed, one of them is coral reef fish ecosystem and seagrass ecosystem. Segrass is a habitat in area of seashore that will always change its area because of many reasons, so that the research of fish community structure which is an incator of ecosystem stability must be done. The aim of this research is to know the kinds of fish in s eagrass ecosystem, fish structure community and the percentage of seagrass closing in Poteran Island. The method which is used in taking the sample of fish uses gill net and the length spesification 50m,wide 1m with gill net 1,5 cm also the seagrass closing with the method of quadran transect 1m x 1m with the cabin of example with size 20cm x20 cm inside, the sample of seagrass also be taken in order to know the kinds off seagrass in the area of research. The result of identification shows the kinds of fish spesies which are found are 8 spesies and the kinds of seagrass Enhalus acoroides is a kind of seagrass that often be found when the research. The analysis result of fish structure community in seagrass ecosystem is on medium diversity condition with the high similarity also low dominance. The percentage of seagrass closing from three stations of observation included in third grade. It is between 12,5-25% with the wide of its closing area is 1/8-1/4.
