Holisoh, Lilis. 12.05.1.1.1.00114. The Struggle for Throne in The Red Queen by Philippa Gregory. Thesis. English study program of the faculty of social and cultural sciences. University of Trunojoyo Madura. Advisor: Diva Wenanda, S.S., M Pd. This study focuses on individual psychology by Alfred Adler which explains about the struggle for throne to get power. This study intends to analyze the struggle or striving to superiority of the main character in the novel. In that case, this study focuses on how the social environment affects the main character struggle for her throne, the way main character struggle based on individual psychology perspective, and the effect of the struggle to the main character personality. Furthermore, this study uses qualitative design as the method, because the data are in the form of words and utterances. Those utterances come from the main character’s utterances. Moreover, this study collects the data by reading, slicing, and analyzing the data based on Miles and Huberman’s qualitative research. The results of this study show that Margaret struggle is infuenced by her parent and society. Her feeling inferiority of Margaret compensate to strive for superiority through her son to get power in England. The last result is Margaret’s struggle give effect to her personality such as she become tricky and ambitious woman.
