Sebastian Rudd’s Struggles in John Grisham’s Rogue Lawyer is the title of this study. Therefore, this study aims to explain the class conflict which is portrayed in John Grisham’s Rogue Lawyer and emphasizes on Sebastian Rudd’s struggles to support the lower class in John Grisham’s Rogue Lawyer. This study uses Marxist theory by Karl Marx which is focused on class conflict and struggle. Marxist is kind of critical theory which is giving perspective that concerned with economical power. In this study, class conflict is portrayed through conflict that experienced by Gardy’s character with many sides of oppressor and struggles are portrayed through many struggles that experienced by Sebastian Rudd’s character. This study was conducted by using qualitative descriptive research design. The data of this study are taken from character utterances and author’s narration which portray Sebastian Rudd’s struggles to support the lower class in John Grisham’s Rogue Lawyer. The source of data is a novel entitled Rogue Lawyer written by John Grisham. The research instrument of this study was the writer herself. The techniques of collecting the data are close reading, reread, reduce, and coding. The techniques of analyzing data based on three procedures which are: data reduction, data display, and drawing verification. After analyzing data, this study finds two results. First, there is conflict consist of oppression through murder accusation conflict that involving Gardy as the lower class with many sides of oppressor. Those are a pathologist, a jailhouse snitch that called as Smut, a fundamentalist preacher, prosecutor, judge, and also juror. Furthermore, in order to support the lower class, Sebastian Rudd struggles with his effort in many ways. It is proved that he desired to bribe the people. Then, always involved in many complicated conflicts that can damage his career, attempted to make Gardy more calm down. Next, he sacrificed his sleep time. The last struggle did by Rudd was asked help to Tadeo.
